Newport, West Wales
Cardigan Bay's Last Resort
"Where optimism comes to hibernate"
Official Coat of Arms
A shield divided between perpetual grey skies and windswept pebbles, supported by two dejected seagulls clutching empty chip wrappers. Above, a crown of castle ruins weeps gentle Welsh rain upon a banner reading 'At Least We're Not Fishguard.'
TripAdvisor Review
★★★☆☆ 3/5
"Visited Newport expecting quaint Welsh coastal charm and got exactly that, plus a healthy dose of reality. The castle's impressive for something that's basically a fancy stone wall, and the beach is lovely when you can see it through the persistent drizzle. The locals were friendly enough to warn me the one decent restaurant closes at 7pm on Sundays."— WeekendWarrior_Cardiff from Cardiff, Wales

Supporting Evidence
Newport's medieval castle was built to defend against invasion, but these days its main battle is preventing tourists from asking 'Is this it?' when they finally find it behind the car park.
