Albufeira, Portugal

Sunburn Central

"Where the Algarve goes to lose its passport"

Official Coat of Arms

A shield divided between golden sandstone cliffs and a neon-lit strip of bars, crowned with a plastic sangria bucket and two crossed pairs of novelty sunglasses. The motto beneath reads, in fading airbrushed lettering, 'Two-For-One Until Dawn'.

TripAdvisor Review

★★★☆☆ 3/5

"Booked a 'quiet family villa' and ended up next to the Strip, where the bass from Kiss Club didn't stop until sunrise, then the seagulls took over. The Old Town cliffs and beach are genuinely stunning if you can get there before the stag parties wake up. Fish was excellent, sangria was cheap, my liver has filed a formal complaint. Would go back purely for the marina sunset, just not in July."

Property Listing

Charming cliffside apartment moments from golden sands, vibrant nightlife, and the gentle lullaby of tourists finding their hotel via Google Maps at 3am! Rental potential is enormous nine months of the year, and for the other three you'll have the beach entirely to yourself.

Twinned With

Magaluf — Both towns share a beautiful coastline that's been valiantly trying to be heard over Britons singing Wonderwall at 4am since the 1990s.

Supporting Evidence

Albufeira's Old Town was largely rebuilt after the devastating 1755 Lisbon earthquake, and its whitewashed charm now sits a short stumble from 'The Strip', one of the Algarve's most notorious nightlife stretches.
