Cancun, Mexico
Spring Break Recovery Zone
"Where Your Liver Retires Before You Do"
Official Coat of Arms
A shield divided by a single unbroken line of beachfront resorts, rampant tequila shot glasses crossed beneath a setting sun, and a timeshare brochure held aloft by two exhausted flamingos. The motto beneath reads, in Latin, 'Nemo Hic Sobrius Est' (Nobody Here Is Sober).
TripAdvisor Review
★★★☆☆ 3/5
"Booked the all-inclusive hoping for turquoise tranquility, instead got a beach so packed with resorts you can barely see the actual ocean past the infinity pools. The Hotel Zone is basically one long strip of identical buffets and thumping club music that starts at 10pm and doesn't stop till the sun comes up over Isla Mujeres. Cenotes nearby are genuinely stunning if you can escape the timeshare salesmen for five minutes, but good luck - they will find you at breakfast. Still gave it 3 stars because the guacamole was unreasonably good and nobody actually got food poisoning this time."— Debbie_Fanny_Pack, Ohio
Property Listing
Imagine waking up every day to Caribbean-blue water, if you can see it past the seventeen identical high-rise resorts blocking your view! This vibrant Hotel Zone corridor offers unbeatable proximity to nightclubs, timeshare presentations, and a Senor Frog's that never, ever closes.
Twinned With
Ibiza — Both towns have surrendered their actual identity to become 24-hour hangover factories for tourists who will never learn a word of the local language.
Supporting Evidence
Cancun didn't exist as a resort town until the Mexican government identified it via computer analysis in the 1970s as the ideal spot to build tourist infrastructure from scratch on what was mostly uninhabited sandbar.
