"Visited Dumfries for the Robert Burns connections and left with a genuine appreciation for the Midsteeple and the sandstone architecture along the High Street, which is lovely in that quiet way nobody photographs for Instagram. The River Nith is pretty until it floods the town centre again, which locals discuss with the weary calm of people who've stopped being surprised. Shops shut early, the drive from Glasgow felt longer than advertised, and I struggled to find anywhere serving food after 8pm.
