Edinburgh, Scotland
Fringe Benefits Only
"Historic, Hilly, and Hosting Someone Else's Party Every August"
Official Coat of Arms
A shield bearing a rain cloud rampant over an extinct volcano, flanked by two exhausted festival volunteers holding flyers no one will take, with a scroll beneath reading 'Sold Out Until September'.
TripAdvisor Review
★★★★☆ 4/5
"Beautiful city but I paid £9 for a pint on the Royal Mile and watched a man in a kilt play bagpipes next to a shop selling the exact same shortbread as the shop next door. The castle is genuinely stunning and Arthur's Seat nearly killed me but the view was worth the cardiac event. Also nobody told me the wind on North Bridge would try to physically relocate me to Fife."— Gareth H, Solihull
Property Listing
Charming Georgian New Town flat with 'character' ceiling heights, a partial castle view if you lean dangerously out the bathroom window, and the unbeatable lifestyle perk of your street becoming an impassable comedy venue for one month a year.
Twinned With
Cannes — Both cities briefly quadruple their population every August with people who then leave without buying property, wrecking the vibe for locals.
Supporting Evidence
Edinburgh is built on seven hills, much like Rome, except here the hills mainly exist to make the walk to Waverley Station feel like a hostage negotiation with your own legs.
