"Went for the Cat Laughs comedy festival and stayed for the sheer number of pubs per square metre, which I believe is a medically studied phenomenon here. The castle is gorgeous and the Medieval Mile is genuinely charming, but try finding parking on a Saturday and you'll age a decade. Also the Nore flooded the towpath the day I wanted to walk it, so there's that. Still, great craic and the cheese from the market was excellent."— Barry McSoggyBoots, Portlaoise
