Loch Ness, Scotland

Loch Ness Monster Traffic Jam

"Come for Nessie, stay for the gift shops"

Official Coat of Arms

A field of murky water upon which floats a rubber duck wearing a tartan cap, flanked by two tour buses rampant and a gift shop counter displaying miniature monsters. Above, a crown of traffic cones honours the eternal queue of visitors seeking photographic evidence of the improbable.

TripAdvisor Review

★★★☆☆ 3/5

"Drove 6 hours to see the famous monster, spent 4 hours in traffic queues behind tour buses. The loch is indeed very wet and surprisingly long. Bought an overpriced Nessie tea towel and spotted more tourists than mythical creatures. At least the scenery between the coach windows was lovely."

Supporting Evidence

Loch Ness contains more water than all the lakes in England and Wales combined, yet most visitors see more of the car park than the actual loch.
