"Absolutely stunning scenery around Lake Wakatipu and the Remarkables, but my wallet needed its own extreme sports insurance after a week here. Every single activity costs more than my flight from Auckland, and the town centre is just backpackers queuing for Fergburger for what feels like geological time.
