"Came for the Spanish culture, stayed because I couldn't find my hotel after four sangrias on the strip. The beach is lovely if you can find a patch of sand not occupied by a sunlounger reserved with a single flip-flop at 6am. Full English breakfast is easier to find than actual paella, which tells you everything about La Carihuela's tourist takeover. Still, the cable car up to Benalmádena and the cheap gin and tonics almost make up for the karaoke bars blasting Sweet Caroline until 3am."— Deirdre P., Wolverhampton
