"Came for the Elizabethan Barnet Museum, stayed because the Northern line took 45 minutes to get me back out. The High Street has more charity shops than a jumble sale convention, but the old coaching inns give it a bit of character if you squint past the traffic on the A1000. The Battle of Barnet site is genuinely interesting if you can find the small plaque without getting lost near the roundabout. Solid enough for a day trip, though 'Barnet' as Cockney rhyming slang for hair is honestly the most exciting thing to happen here since 1471."— Derek Postlethwaite, Potters Bar
