Castle 'n' Crumbly Cheese

"Big Castle, Bigger Cheese, Biggest Roundabout Confusion"

Official Coat of Arms

A shield bearing a deliberately leaning tower rampant, a wedge of crumbling white cheese couchant, and a mini-roundabout of confusion in the base, all beneath a banner reading 'We Have A Castle, Actually'.

TripAdvisor Review

★★★☆☆ 3/5

"Came for the castle, stayed because I got lost trying to find my way out of the one-way system near the town centre. The castle itself is genuinely massive and even has leaning towers that out-lean Pisa, which is a fun fact I now bore everyone with. Cheese shop was shut when I visited which felt like a personal betrayal given the town's entire identity, and the high street has seen better decades. Still, the moat ducks were living their best life so three stars."

Property Listing

Charming market town offering unrivalled castle views, a world-famous cheese named in its honour, and excellent transport links to Cardiff for when you inevitably need somewhere with more nightlife. Perfect for buyers who enjoy medieval architecture and explaining to visitors why the tower tilts.

Twinned With

Pisa — Both towns are internationally famous for a large historic structure that is inexplicably wonky and nobody has fixed it out of respect.

Supporting Evidence

Caerphilly Castle is the second-largest castle in Britain and its south-east tower leans more than the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
