Clonmel, Ireland
Suir Thing, It's Clonmel
"Where the Comeragh Mountains meet questionable parking"
Official Coat of Arms
A shield bearing a pint of Bulmers rampant beside the West Gate, quartered with a greyhound mid-sprint, all beneath a banner reading 'Died of a Traffic Jam Circa 2019', with the River Suir rendered in wavy lines because nobody could agree on a bridge design.
TripAdvisor Review
★★★☆☆ 3/5
"Lovely spin along the River Suir walk and the greyhound stadium is a genuine night out, but good luck finding parking in town on a Saturday. Went to see the West Gate and ended up circling Gladstone Street for twenty minutes instead. Bulmers factory does smell amazing though, I'll give it that."— Deirdre M, Kilkenny
Property Listing
Charming heritage town living in the shadow of the Comeragh Mountains, boasting a genuine medieval West Gate and the intoxicating aroma of Ireland's biggest cider factory wafting over your morning commute. A rare opportunity to live somewhere with actual hills, actual history, and an actual reason tourists stop rather than just pass through.
Twinned With
Herefordshire — Both are defined internationally by the cider brand named after them rather than anything else about the place.
Supporting Evidence
Clonmel is the birthplace of Bianconi coach travel, Ireland's first regular public transport system, which is ironic given how hard it now is to find a parking space in town.
