"Arrived on the Elizabeth line expecting to feel like I'd reached the glamorous East End. Instead I spent forty minutes in a very long shopping centre called The Exchange, which is also somehow where the entire town lives. The high street was lively, the food was excellent and the Ilford Lane curry houses were a highlight, but I never did find out where the actual town centre ends and the enormous roundabout begins.
