Lydney, England

Almost-Wales-But-Not-Quite

"Where the Forest of Dean meets retail mediocrity"

Official Coat of Arms

A shield divided between a faded Morrisons shopping trolley rampant and a steam locomotive passant, representing the town's transition from industrial heritage to retail reality. Supporters: two confused tourists holding maps, forever asking 'Is this Wales or England?'

TripAdvisor Review

★★★☆☆ 3/5

"Visited Lydney expecting quaint Forest of Dean charm but found myself in what feels like a budget version of Chepstow. The high street has seen better decades, though the Morrisons is decent enough. Pleasant walk along the old railway line to the harbour, where you can contemplate how this was once busier than it is now."
