Pontypool, Wales

Roundabout-upon-Cwm

"Where Every Journey Takes Three Attempts"

Official Coat of Arms

Azure, a roundabout argent surrounded by six smaller roundabouts proper, surmounted by a chief gules bearing three confused motorists rampant. The shield is supported by two traffic cones and crowned with a weathered 'Retail Park This Way' sign, all set upon a field of perpetual roadworks.

TripAdvisor Review

★★★☆☆ 3/5

"Visited Pontypool expecting a charming Welsh town, got lost in what feels like the UK's most unnecessarily complex road system. The Shell Island roundabout is genuinely terrifying - I circled it four times before giving up and going to Cwmbran instead. At least the retail park has decent parking."
