"Went to Tauranga expecting Mount Maunganui vibes and got stuck behind a logging truck on the Bethlehem roundabout for what felt like a geological era. The waterfront is genuinely gorgeous when you can actually get to it, and the port is very committed to reminding you it exists at 5am with container clanging. Kiwifruit orchards everywhere smell amazing but the traffic infrastructure has clearly not kept pace with everyone deciding to retire here at once."— Barry Fenwick, Palmerston North
