Birmingham, England

Second City Syndrome

"We're not London, and we're proud of it"

Official Coat of Arms

A shield divided into quarters featuring a concrete ring road rampant, a bulldozer couchant beside a Victorian building (half demolished), and the Rotunda tower proper, all surmounted by a crown of endless roadworks. The motto reads 'Semper in Constructione' (Always Under Construction).

TripAdvisor Review

★★★☆☆ 3/5

"Visited Birmingham for a weekend break and honestly, it's much better than expected! The Bullring is massive and the canals are surprisingly lovely. Spent ages trying to find the city centre though - it's like a giant roundabout with shopping centres attached. The curry scene is absolutely incredible, possibly better than London's."
