Cheltenham, England

Regency Retirement Central

"Where Young Dreams Come to Browse Antiques"

Official Coat of Arms

A shield divided quarterly, featuring a rampant mobility scooter, a golden parking meter rampant, two crossed artisanal coffee cups, and a Regency townhouse couchant beneath a chief of perpetual roadworks. The motto reads 'Pecunia Pro Caffeine' (Money for Coffee).

TripAdvisor Review

★★★☆☆ 3/5

"Visited during the Festival and couldn't find a parking space within a 3-mile radius of the town center. Spent £8 on a coffee that came with a lecture about proper milk steaming techniques. The Promenade is lovely if you enjoy being overtaken by mobility scooters, and every shop seems to sell either overpriced homeware or supplements for joint pain."

Bath, because they're locked in eternal competition over who has the most expensive coffee shops per square mile.

Supporting Evidence

Cheltenham has more independent coffee shops per capita than almost anywhere else in the UK, yet somehow still manages to have queues at every single one during Festival week.
