Fremantle, Australia
Freo-Vibes-Or-Bust
"Where the Doctor visits every afternoon, whether you like it or not"
Official Coat of Arms
A shield bearing a crenellated limestone prison tower rampant, flanked by two shipping cranes from the port, beneath a weathervane spinning uncontrollably to represent the Fremantle Doctor. Motto scroll beneath reads 'Hold Onto Your Hat' in flapping, wind-torn lettering.
TripAdvisor Review
★★★★☆ 4/5
"Lovely wander around the markets and the prison, but the wind picked up around 2pm and I lost my hat, my dignity and a small child's balloon to the Fremantle Doctor. Cappuccino Strip is great if you enjoy paying $7 for a coffee while seagulls plan a heist on your croissant. The old buildings are gorgeous, genuinely, I just wish someone would bolt down the outdoor furniture."— Gail P, Bunbury
Property Listing
Character-filled port city living where colonial architecture meets container-ship glamour! Enjoy front-row seats to the world-famous Fremantle Doctor, nature's own free air-conditioning system delivered daily at exactly the wrong time. Walking distance to markets, breweries, and a genuine heritage-listed prison, because nothing says 'up and coming suburb' like incarceration history.
Twinned With
Wellington — Both cities have appointed the wind as an unofficial deputy mayor with full veto power over hairstyles and umbrellas.
Supporting Evidence
Fremantle Prison, a former maximum-security jail, is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site where tourists happily pay to be locked in a cell for photos.
