"Came for the whale watching, stayed because my car got stuck in sand on the Esplanade car park. The whales were genuinely spectacular from July to October, but the rest of the year it's just a very long, very flat waterfront with an alarming number of retirement villages. Urangan Pier is nice for a walk but bring your own entertainment because the town shuts down disturbingly early. Three stars, mostly for the whales doing all the work."— Craig_Overlander_QLD
