"Drove eight hours across nothing to get here and the giant mine chimney did not disappoint, genuinely visible from space I reckon. The heat is biblical and the red dust gets into everything including your soul, but the locals were lovely and the pub steaks were massive. Not much to do after dark except stare at the smelter lights, which is oddly hypnotic after a few beers. Would come back for the rodeo but bring your own shade."— Barry Fenwick, Toowoomba
