Penarth, Wales
Cardiff's Posh Cousin
"Where Victorian grandeur meets modern mortgage anxiety"
Official Coat of Arms
A shield divided quarterly featuring a golden Victorian pier rampant above waves of estate agent hyperbole, flanked by twin pillars of overpriced coffee cups. The crest bears a rampant Range Rover Evoque clutching a Waitrose bag, whilst the motto beneath reads 'Prope Cardiff, Sed Pretiosior' (Near Cardiff, But Pricier).
TripAdvisor Review
★★★☆☆ 3/5
"Lovely seaside town with gorgeous Victorian pier and seafront. The charity shops are surprisingly upmarket and the cafes serve proper coffee, though you'll pay London prices for it. Parking is absolutely mental - spent 20 minutes circling the town centre for a space that cost more than my lunch. Still, the views across the Bristol Channel are spectacular when it's not raining."— WelshWanderer2019 from Bridgend

Supporting Evidence
Penarth Pier is the only pier in Wales and was once considered so fancy that it charged admission just to walk on it - a tradition the town has maintained in spirit through its parking charges.
