"Where Houston's Overflow Learns to Love a Small-Town Parade"
Official Coat of Arms
Azure, a steam locomotive rampant on a field of antique-shop doilies, flanked by two oil derricks couchant. The crest bears a single traffic cone dormant above the motto, 'We Were Here Before The Subdivisions.' Supporters are a Tomball Parkway cement mixer and a Christmas light, both permanently in construction.
TripAdvisor Review
★★★☆☆ 3/5
"Came for the famous German Heritage Festival and the antique shops on Main Street, and honestly it was lovely until I tried to leave. Sat on the 249 for forty minutes watching a freight train politely hold up the entire town. The Tomball Depot area is charming, the Christmas lights are great, but every local I met either moved here to escape Houston or is currently complaining about how Houston followed them. Three stars, would visit again if I had a train schedule."— DaveFromKaty_Texas, Katy, Texas
Property Listing
Charming historic railroad town with genuine small-town character, just a mere 'short drive' from Houston (results vary wildly by time of day). Enjoy quaint antique shops, a thriving festival scene, and the daily thrill of timing your errands around the freight train. Don't miss the brand new subdivision built where the field you loved used to be!
Twinned With
Frankfurt — Both are proud of their German roots, though only one of them has a railroad crossing that dictates the entire social calendar.
Supporting Evidence
Tomball was founded as a railroad town in 1907 and named after Thomas Ball, a congressman who helped bring the railroad through, and its Main Street still hosts a popular German Heritage Festival every year.
