"Drove three extra hours because I thought I was headed somewhere tropical with my swimsuit packed. Instead I got a beautiful brick-lined historic downtown, a surprisingly good art museum, and a Walmart parking lot with a view of the Rockies. The Trinidad History Museum and old mining relics are genuinely charming once you get over the betrayal of no beach.
