"Lovely walk along the pier to the lighthouse and the ruins are genuinely stunning, especially at sunset with the sea crashing below. However I circled Front Street for 25 minutes looking for parking and nearly gave up and went home to Whitley Bay instead. The fish and chips are excellent but you'll pay Newcastle city centre prices for the privilege of eating them in the wind. Longsands beach itself is gorgeous, I just wish I'd brought a tent for shelter and a small mortgage for the car park."— BrianFromBenton_67
