Rename My Town

Terms of use

The boring bit. Be nice and you will not run into any of this.

It is satire. Treat it as satire.

Everything generated by Rename My Town — the new name, the slogan, the TripAdvisor review, the rating, the coat of arms, the fun fact, the twinned-with line, the estate-agent pitch — is fictional, AI-generated comedy. None of it is a factual statement about any real place, person, business, or institution. Do not quote it as if it were.

No warranty

The site is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. The AI can be wrong about facts, the cache can be stale, the jokes can land badly, the service can go down. We try to keep it useful and well-behaved but we do not promise that any of those things will hold at any particular moment.

Acceptable use

You may use the site for personal, non-commercial entertainment and may share rebrands with friends, on social media, and in articles or reviews. You may not:

Content we will remove

If a generated rebrand violates the editorial rules (stereotypes, punching down at residents, mean-spirited content) or is otherwise objectionable, we will remove it on request. We may also remove content at our own discretion without notice. Get in touch and we will sort it out.

Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operators of Rename My Town are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of the site or the AI-generated content it produces. Don't make business decisions based on a fake TripAdvisor review.

Third-party services

The site relies on Anthropic (for the AI model) and a third-party hosting provider. Your use of the site is also subject to those providers' own terms.

Changes

We may update these terms. The current version is always at renamemy.com/terms.

Governing law

Any disputes will be handled under the laws of the jurisdiction in which the site operator is based. Given the size and nature of this project, the realistic dispute-resolution mechanism is "send us a message and we will sort it out."
