Shoe Town Centre Bypass

"Where roundabouts multiply like rabbits"

Official Coat of Arms

A silver shopping trolley rampant upon a field of tarmac, surrounded by seven roundabouts proper, with a crossed shoe and traffic cone as supporters, beneath a crown of retail park signage reading 'Next' and 'Boots'.

TripAdvisor Review

★★★☆☆ 3/5

"Came to Northampton expecting a quaint market town, got stuck in a retail park vortex for three hours trying to find the actual town centre. The one-way system appears to have been designed by someone who really, really loves concrete and really, really hates visitors. At least the Grosvenor Centre exists, I think."

Supporting Evidence

Northampton has been making shoes for over 800 years and somehow managed to turn this proud heritage into a shopping centre called 'The Shoe Quarter' that contains exactly zero shoe shops.
