"Visited for the football and stayed for the confusion about why the Stadium of Light isn't actually that near any light. The Bridges shopping centre has everything you need if what you need was popular in 2003. Roker Beach is genuinely lovely on the four days a year it's not raining sideways, and the Wearmouth Bridge is a proper feat of engineering nobody outside the city has heard of.
