"Went for the castle, stayed because I got lost in the Snowdome car park for forty minutes. The castle grounds are genuinely lovely and there's real history here as the old capital of Mercia, but then you turn a corner and it's all retail park and indoor skiing in the middle of Staffordshire. My kids loved the snow tubing, I loved the pint at the Market Vaults, we all left mildly confused about what Tamworth actually is.
